Please mark your calendars for an upcoming UIC conference:
Patient-centered Health Care for Muslim Women in the United States
www.uic.edu/depts/ci/mwhconf:

Dates: March 4-5, 2005

Location: UIC Student Center West (formerly, Chicago Illiniois Union), 828 South Wolcott Street, Chicago IL 60612

Sponsored by: Department of Family Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago

Funded by: Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, United States Department of Health and Human Services

Supported by: Society for Teachers of Family Medicine; American College Health Association; Illinois Department of Public Health; Council of American Muslim Professionals; UIC National Center of Excellence in Women's Health; UIC Center for Research on Women and Gender; UIC School of Public Health; UIC College of Nursing; and, UIC Great Cities Institute.

This forum will serve as an important first step in gathering together researchers, health care providers, Islamic scholars, and consumers to share information and set the agenda for a larger research project aimed at comprehensively studying the perspectives of Muslim women and primary care providers, in order to identify and overcome barriers to the provision of high quality, culturally appropriate, patient-centered care for Muslim women in the United States.

This project is part of our Department's larger efforts to seek ways to provide quality care for diverse populations. Hence, the conference will be of interest to all those interested in the provision of culturally appropriate, patient-centered health care.
