This forum will serve as an important first step in gathering together
researchers, health care providers, Islamic scholars, and consumers to
share information and set the agenda for a larger research project
aimed
at comprehensively studying the perspectives of Muslim women and
primary
care providers, in order to identify and overcome barriers to the
provision of high quality, culturally appropriate, patient-centered
care
for Muslim women in the United States.
This project is part of our Department's larger efforts to seek ways to
provide quality care for diverse populations. Hence, the conference
will
be of interest to all those interested in the provision of culturally
appropriate, patient-centered health care.
