 | | Solemn Funeral Procession for Gaza Victims - A Peaceful Gaza Action on MLK Day | | Posted on: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 | | Christian Peacemaker Teams are holding a "Solemn Funeral Procession" from Federal Plaza to the Boeing headquarters in downtown Chicago on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (1/19/09). It is an action intended to remember the hundreds upon hundreds of children and the other innocent civilians totaling over 1000 killed by Israeli attacks on Gaza.
Follow the trail of deadly connection between the our government (which approved the sale of GBU-39 bombs that Israel is raining down on Gaza) and Boeing (who makes these bombs and profits from them). Donít let Corporate America off the hook for their role in this atrocity.
Date: MLK Day - Monday, January 19, 2009
Time: 3:30pm to 5:30pm
Place: Start at Federal Plaza (Dearborn & Adams)
End at 100 N. Riverside Plaza (Boeing headquarters)
Israelis massive attacks on the occupied Gaza Strip have exacted a terrible toll on the 1.5 million Palestinians living there. More than 1000 Palestinians have been killed and thousands more injured. Over a third of those killed are children. Israelís war and siege on the Gaza Strip would not be possible without the jets, helicopters, ships, missiles, and fuel provided by the United States.
Israel is using Boeing-made Apache Helicopters and dropping Boeing-made GBU-39 small diameter bombs on the Gaza Strip. In September 2008, Boeing received a $77 million contract to transfer 1,000 of these bombs to Israel. According to weapons experts, these bombs contain uranium oxide and have left behind radioactive contamination in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
